Ovation of the Seas Is Now Sailing from Los Angeles

We’re so excited to share that Ovation of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean’s most innovative ships, is officially sailing from Los Angeles this summer! And guess what? We were lucky enough to get an early sneak peek before the first guests even boarded—and let’s just say, WOW.

🌟 First Impressions: What We Loved

From the moment we stepped onboard, Ovation felt like a floating adventure playground mixed with luxury resort vibes. A few of our favorite features?

🎯 SeaPlex fun – We tried bumper cars and pickleball and had a blast! There’s so much going on here, it’s a hit for both families and fun-loving adults.
☀️ So many pools and jacuzzis – Whether you’re cooling off or soaking in the views, you’re never far from water.
🌿 The Solarium – A quiet, adults-only escape with loungers, pools, whirlpools, and gorgeous ocean views. So relaxing!
🎈 North Star – This glass capsule lifts you high above the ship for breathtaking 360° views of the coastline.
💃 Entertainment & energy everywhere – There’s something happening around every corner, day and night.

🛏️ Our Cabin: 6254

During our preview sailing, we stayed in cabin 6254, which had an obstructed view balcony. While that technically means the view included the tops of the lifeboats, we were still able to enjoy plenty of ocean scenery. The balcony was surprisingly spacious, with two chaise lounge chairs and a table—perfect for morning coffee or sunset watching. Inside, there was lots of thoughtful storage, making it easy to unpack and stay organized. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, featuring a glass-door shower and a handy footrest for shaving. One small downside: the toiletries. Instead of individual shampoo and conditioner, Royal Caribbean provides an all-in-one body wash, which wasn’t our favorite. (Suite guests, however, do receive upgraded amenities like separate shampoo and conditioner.)

🥩 Dining Highlights: Steakhouse Wins the Night

We were lucky enough to sample a few bites from the specialty restaurants onboard—and hands down, our favorite was from the steakhouse (Chops Grille). Not only was the food delicious, but it was also the largest of the specialty dining venues, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. What surprised us, though, was how small the other specialty restaurants felt by comparison—cozy, but definitely limited in seating. If you're thinking of trying one (or several), we highly recommend booking early to make sure you get the times and spots you want!

This is the first time a Quantum-class ship is homeported on the West Coast—and it’s also the biggest cruise ship ever to sail from Los Angeles. That means more features, more space, and more fun—without needing to fly across the country to board.
